Specialty Fashion Group is one of Australia’s leading specialty, multi-branded apparel retailers. With 840 stores across the Millers, Crossroads, Katies, Autograph, Queenspark and City Chic brands, Specialty Fashion Group provides the latest fashion offering for most Australian women.

In 2007, Performance Partners teamed up with the Specialty Fashion Group. Our starting project was to develop the retail leadership capability of experienced Regional Managers across all brands. Following the success of this program, we have since rolled out extensive training to the City Chic brand as well as provide counsel directly to the CEO.

Cross-Branded Regional Manager Development Program

Working directly with 40+ Regional Managers across all states, Performance Partners designed a retail leadership program, aligned to the Certificate IV in Retail qualification and reflecting their own SHIRT values. This program was delivered through a combination of face-to-face group training with relevant in-store projects. The program rollout was as followed:

  • 3-day workshop on Leadership, Sales & Service and Retail Financials
  • Implementation of in-store projects
  • 2-day workshop on Merchandise and Safety Leadership
  • Implementation of in-store proejcts
  • 2-days workshop on Recruitment and Performance Management

City Chic Store Manager Development Program

In 2008/2009, City Chic and Performance Partners partnered on a 12-month national leadership program for Store Managers. This program was aligned to the Certificate III in Retail qualification and was heavily weighted towards driving sales in-store. The following leadership modules were rolled out through a combination of face-to-face training and in-store projects:

CEO & Senior Management Counsel

At Performance Partners, we use a range of psychometric tools that provide retailers with greater accuracy about their current leaders and can influence decision making with the hiring of future leaders. We worked directly with the CEO on the appropriateness of a variety of existing leaders for future roles as well as potential external candidates. This work also included guided 1-on-1 coaching with several senior leaders across the business.
