Quiksilver is the world’s leading boardriding company, specialising in products for anyone who loves surfing, snowboarding and skateboarding. Quiksilver stores are located throughout Australia and New Zealand.

In 2009, we commenced our partnership with Quiksilver in all areas people and retail strategy.

Retail Operations

It all started with the deployment of our Retail Culture Index [RCI], where we conducted an online survey with all retail team members. The results of these findings were presented to the senior retail team and a Quiksilver working committee on employment engagement was formed to develop future strategic initiatives.

Following the results of the RCI, Quiksilver and Performance Partners designed an innovative leadership program for Store Managers and Assistant Store Managers/3ICs and selected full-time staff. This program was aligned to national qualifications and offered participants a combination of face-to-face training and in-store projects. The key face-to-face modules were as follows:

In 2010, we conducted further targeted leadership development for Store Managers through training in all states. This covered the results of individual 360-leadership surveys for Store Managers and leadership skills and practices to improve employee engagement.

Head Office - Torquay

In 2009 we worked closely with the retail executive team to build their leadership capability. This work has included the deployment of a customised 360-online leadership survey, supported by 1-on-1 coaching debriefs. It also included the facilitation of half-day and full-day leadership programs in the areas of employee engagement, personality styles, communication, recognition, leadership under stress and managing time.

And more recently in 2010, we have commenced work with 30 middle managers across the business to further develop their leadership skills. Utilising 360-online leadership surveys, managers are participating in a series of customised leadership workshops and projects as part of Quicksilver’s Accelerated Leadership Program.
