With more than 90 stores nationally, Adairs is Australia’s leading retailer of manchester and homewares. Founded in 1918, the business now comprises six retail formats including Adairs, Adairs Homemaker, Adairs Outlet, Adairs Online, Adairs Kids and Urban Home Republic.

Starting in 2003, Performance Partners has enjoyed a long association with Adairs, being the first point of contact for anything people or performance related. Working across both retail stores and Head Office, we have completed a wide range of projects. Examples include:

Sales Design & Rollout

Adairs wanted to update their existing sales program and address the selling shortfalls identified by their mystery shopping results. After extensive meetings with various stakeholders, Performance Partners developed a new sales program, focusing on service standards. Performance Partners then co-facilitated the new program to all staff in all states, supported by the development of additional sales tools, i.e. Adairs selling DVD, mystery shopper survey and manager coaching tools.

Induction Program

Adairs wanted a store induction program that was owned by Store Managers, rolled out consistently for every new team member and that could fast-track new team members to reach full capability. After much consultation, Performance Partners rewrote the Adairs induction program and aligned the new program to the Certificate III in Retail performance criteria. Supported by Area Managers, the program included a combination of self-directed learning activities, checklists, Assistant Manager and Store Manager coaching and online assessment.

Nationally Accredited Training

Since 2003, Performance Partners has been at the centre of professional development for Adairs retail team members and managers. Aligned to the Certificate III and IV in Retail, we have worked in all states, and at all levels, to build the retail leadership skills of managers and individual performance of team members.

Senior Team Strategic Planning & Development

Our work for Adairs in this area includes:

  • The facilitation of strategic planning/culture improvement workshops with the top 30 managers across Head Office and retail.
  • Training Area and Regional Managers in leadership development.
  • A review of all communication at Head Office and a report that outlined key strengths and areas for improvement.
  • The design and deployment of the Adairs Retail Culture Index [RCI] to all stores and the facilitation of business improvement initiatives arising from these results.
